Another three point question

I'm assembling a three point hitch on my H and I think the side links (the two links with the forks at eather end that hang from the lift arms and connect to the side trailing arms) I have may be too long. Would someone send me the length of their side link from fork-pin to fork pin with the link screwed in so it's at its shortest? I'm guessing there's someone out there with a saginaw that's close enough to my design it'll be a good pointer. Thanks for your time.

Thanks guys. That must be part of my problem - my adjustable side links are 19.5" (pin center to pin center) at their shortest. My next question, which I'll probably post as a seperate thread, what are the lengths of peoples lower forks - the ones that hook up to the lower trailing arms? Mine are 6" long so it looks like I can drill another pair of holes higher up in the forks and 'choke up' on them without any interfearance. That should get me to the 17" length some folks mentioned.

Dave, yes that would be a solution. Mine have two sets of holes, one of them would make them about 19 inches long.

Here is a pic of what I thought he was talking about on a saginaw 3 point. it is 17" or there abouts.

Mine has a nut at both ends of the turning mechanism, thus the difference in length -- otherwise appears identical.

I did not try to shorten mine, but at the length I am satisfied with, that gives slight but not excessive sway, the stabilizer rods are about 30 inches center of hole to center of hole. The lower arms themselves are about 35.5 inches from the center of the front mounting pin to the center of the ball in the rear.

Sounds like we are talking about two different hitches, or I measured the wrong thing. The 30 inch rods I mentioned are the anti-sway rods, the 35.5 arms are the ones that attach to the implement. The vertical adjustable rods that connect the rockshaft to the lower arms, however, are just under 18 inches, at the shortest length. I can't get an absolutely exact measurment without taking the sway bar loose. Each manufacturer will be different anyway.

Just reading this thread...Are there different designs of 3ph for the H? All the one's I've seen look SO big for the little tractor. Glenn

Saginaw is a perfect fit, same hitch is sold for the H-450, thus the heavy duty. It will probably be the last thing on the tractor to bend or break. It will likely work on a 560 or larger, assuming the mounting places are the same as a 450.

What you callin' little ?!

There are several 3 points for an H. I have a WorkSaver. It does not look out of place. If I had to do over again, I would get the Saganaw. The aftermarket drawbars are flimsy.

BTW my vertical links are 17" long.

Greg
