Tractor starts fine. Runs 5-10 min. then dies. Starts right up, then dies again. No sputter, miss, just quits. Seems to have good gas flow. Been through the gas tank junk/ rust before. Seems like I heard once that a cracked/ bad coil will do this. Can most parts stores test coils? NAPA? Would the condenser do this? Thanks, Gus.

That coil can be a real doooozzzeeyy! Found out when plowing when it would sputter a couple of times and then puke out. See if is hot. I do mean HOT to the touch. As had been said, check the screen in line where the tube goes into the carb. Remove the little plug on the bottom of the carb and drain out any crud. Have fun! jeffcat

I'd say you have a problem in the fuel system. You may have some junk in the carb which is slowing the flow enough that it only runs a short time. When a coil goes bad it will run about 45-60 minutes and a condenser about 2-3 minutes and in both cases will not restart for about an hour

If coil or condenser, it won't start for 5 minutes or so. Sounds like a fuel flow problem to me. If you detemine that by removing the line from the carb, the fitting on the carb that the line screws into has a screen inside, you might check that. Otherwise, your carb need a good cleaning.
