I have had an IHC 504 with backhoe for years. It just gets occasional use on the farm. Last couple of times I have used it, the oil pressure seems to drop off to 15 lbs. or so when it gets warmed up good. (I use 15W40 oil.) It has one of those cheapie aftermarket oil pressure gauges with the small plastic supply line. Any chance the gauge is malfunctioning or am I looking at an overhaul?

If you look in the parts book for the oil pump on the C153 engine and look at the oil pump for the C Farmall the both have the same oil pump cover. The first thing that I would do is check the cover to see if it is warped.

Welp, I like Allan's answer, stick an oil pressure guage on the line and get a reading from a known acurate guage. Then you can play with oil blends to get desired pressure. My B250 will drop off as it warms up , but it still has adequate reading on the guage, good luck...Mike in Exeter Ontario

I think I would switch to 30wt oil and a new gauge and see if this fixes the problem. Hal

GW,

I'd sure plug in a known good gauge before pulling the hood off 'er.

Seen bad guages point a fellow down the wrong road before.
