Anyone retrofit an A with a temp gauge. The upper pipe to the engine on my 47 A has a threaded hole that looks like it should accept a temperature gauge. The catch on this is that my "A" has a factory installed Super A block. I have the unpressurized thermosyphon system.

There is nothing wrong with a temp guage in the upper fitting. These engines will run around 165 whenrunning and warmed up real good.

There is a port in the lower pipe going from the block to the radiator. That is where the sensor for the temp. gauge was supposed to go.

Hey,

I put a guage on my 1941 gas A and it never moves. They just dont seem to get hot enough when working. It's nice to have just in case.

Randy, There"s nothing to say you can"t install a temperature gauge, but with a thermal-syphon system, you really don"t need it unless you are burning Kerosene or distillate fuel. The gauge was installed on those tractors so that the operator could monitor and adjust the temperature by opening and closing the shutters.
