For Rusty Farmall and Old. You told Kevin Schumacher on 4-26-06 that a carb should only suck, never blow. After sitting for 6 months this winter ,my W4 would suck and blow out of a small hole just to the rear of the bottom adjusting screw on the bottom of the carb. After shutting the gas off and spinning the moter over for a few minutes, then turning the gas on, the tractor started, and I took my bride of 49 years for a ride.At the time I figured the sucking and blowing was caused by a valve that stuck open for a bit. The W4 worked fine. My "DUMB" question is,"what is that hole in the carb for?".

Well most carbs have a brass screen in that hole. What it is for is if you flood the carb/engine it drains off the essex (sp) gas so it will drain the gas out faster.

Thanks for the answer. Makes sense. It sure stinks up the garage when it "blows". Stirs up my bride also!!
