I wish I had the time to go North and ride with you guys! Back in 72 I worked for Speno Railroad ballast and grinding on the Canadian Pacific! We went from North bay to Prince Albert at 2 miles an hour and seen just how beautiful Canada is! In Sask. there was a farmer that had a row of tractors in his feild for display, that was everything from steam engine to present day at that time! ( What a sight to see) By the way the trip took 4 months! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!! !!

Mitch: Your tempting me, just no better way to see the rural country side than by tractor.

Last year Tony and I moved his tractor and 18' wide transplanter all the way from Watford to Mt Elgin, keeping north of London crossing 401 on highway 73, total about 120 km. It took us 11 hours, his daughter behind and me out front playing bandit with pickup. I did everything I could think of to manipulate traffic, even drove on wrong side of road on crest of hills about 500' in leed to encourage folks it was safe to pass him. I remember once on 73 and we hit that at afternoon rush hour, I looked back and could see 20 cars behind Tony. When I reached the crest, I pulled to wrong side of road. The only vehicle in that line up that caught on what I was trying to do was an OPP cruiser, and he came out of that lineup with lights flashing and siren on. I figured I was doomed for driving on wrong side of road, just before he got to me I went to right shoulder, he turned off lights and waved as he went by.

Tony remarked at the end of the day, he never realized there was so much nice farmland north of London. I said, "I guess we should have more tractor rides, don't think we need that planter though." He agreed it did take away the pleasure.

Just a beautiful way to see the country side. Can you imagine, cross country by tractor. I would like to organize one where we go for days pulling a light trailer behind for sleeping and eating, with seats high up front on trailer, for the family. I once drove a Combine less header from Summerside PEI to Truro NS, including the ferry. I saw things that day I had never seen before and it was probably my 100 th journey over those roads.

Mitch: So I don't even have to bring my own tractor. This is sounding too good to pass up. I'll get back to you before Sunday.
