I just sold a smta for $3000 but the torque was out but it ran good. Heard of one in illinois that brought $14500. Mint condition, i wouldn't buy one for more than 5k or 6k.

Guess I shouldn't have let my SMTA go for $2500 a couple years back... oh well, we needed a new haybine.

If you want a TRUE value, put it on eBay, starting at $0.99 with no reserve.

Explain how that will give you a TRUE value.I'd pay more for one twenty miles from home verses 1500 miles from here.John.

I have an LP, one of 500 done for IH at Lubbock, Texas. That has got to be worth what, $7500? I would take $2500 for it though.Funny thing though it is all in what someone will give.

Boy does this topic come up a lot lately. I don't care to speculate because I don't know what "mint" means. I have a nice one and I think 4-5K tops but there seem to be an awful lot of people on the forums trying to make it look like they are worth a lot more. I said it before and I will say it again, the last place you want to get true values is here. You will get honest answers but it is hard to read them with all the glare coming off those posts with the big bucks listed in them. Best place to look is for COMPLETED auctions on ebay. Ones with feedback indicating the check arrived.

I agree Dave,

It's kinda like the "$1 per pound" for front-end weights.

Quite by accident, I found out that you can buy 'em all day long from machinery dealers for as little as $200 for a full-12 set on the right day. They've got 'em lying behind their shops; row after row in stacks and they are nothing but a darned nuisance to these places.

Don’t ask a “collector” what something is worth; they have a somewhat inflated view on their chosen hobby. Take the little L John Deere tractor for instance. :>)

Of course, on the other hand, the pricing can work in the opposite direction too. I recently bought an old truck in the middle of wheat country. Got ripped right up the middle of the solar plexus on that darned thing. Ouch!

Oh well, just had to have it. :>(

Hey, that would work out good! Hook the plow on the back of it and make me a package deal. Been thinkin of adding another one to the "fleet"!
I could almost drive her home! Sure would solve that transportation issue I have with the plow.

At the current rate of price increase we may be able to buy out Bill Gates in a couple years.
