My neighbor found a super bmd that has been sitting for a long time. One of the cylinder walls is busted, and he is going to try to fix it. We need a sleeve and piston. I'm not sure what bore and I really don't know much about the motor. If anyone knows where we can get parts for this tractor without taking a boat, please help. Eric W, Indiana.

Hi Eric. Nice find is a SUPER BMD Farmall your side of the pond. Built at IH Doncaster works from 1953 to 1958. 4 inch bore indirect injection diesel engine with glowplug starting system. The part number for a piston and liner set is 700784R91. Hope this helps also the B450 tractor uses the same pistons and liners. MJ

Pull the sleeve and piston then you will know more about what you will need by having some measurements.

You should be able to get sleeves from NAPA or
from any Case/IH dealer. The sleeve bore is probably 4.00". This forum has sleeve kits too.

Eric,
When I redid a B450,(yes they made those too overseas) I had to have some engine parts like that.I needed all 4 sleeves and rings and was able to reuse my pistons.I found the sleeves at of all places,my local Napa dealer. They werent specific for my B450,but fit perfect.Maybe take a sleeve and piston with you and see what they come up with.Thast what I did.He had some sort of generic ring guide he ordered the rings for but I had to modify them slightly.

Learned something again today. Never knew they made M's in Britain.
I thought it was in the 70's before production in Britain.

I may prove myself stupid for asking this question but--What is a super bmd? I've never heard of one but I know I don't know everything.
Just ask my wife.
