I recently purchased a Farmall A with a s/n FAA 345189 which would elude to it being a 1953 Farmall A. However my tractor has a wide rear axle and a wide front end! Unlike any other model A I have seen, the engine is mounted exactly in the center much like a B model. If anyone happens to know what I might have on my hands please help me out, I'm getting the fever. Thanks!

Hi Brig, It sounds like someone just added the axle off of a B. I"m building a wide frontend for my B. I"m using a steering box off of a A and then I replaced the axle with a wider one. Looks factory. Good way to add front weight without hanging a bunch of weight to the front. Good Luck.

The A or B or BN differental housing can be bolted to the left side and then use the differental shaft to go with the housing. Super C stuff will not go on the rear. Are you sure that the left tire isnt just moved out to the wide position. I s the fender mounted to the transmision. If not the space from the tranny to the fender will be either 18in or 22. let us know what you find.

Posting last summer out of Michigan area(?) about a wide front B/A combination that had been used for special veggy crop work- apparently axles from B could be connected to A transmission and a C type adjustable wide front mounted offset one side. A,B,Cs shared lot of parts, interchange possible. After 50 years many things could have been modified. Could be a B base with wide front? check back if you figure it out. RN

Might be something someone put together, half A, and half B?

I don't exactly know what you mean, but your Super A has an adjustable wfe, and the rear wheels can be switched around, to make at least 8 different widths,. Is it set up for the wide width, and that is unfamiliar to you?
