Antifreeze in my Oil

Well, I had a feeling there was a problem but i had too much going on to deal with this until now. Last fall when i was putting away all my equiptment, I noticed a funny "anti-freeze -like" smell coming from my Super "A". So now it is time to figure out how much trouble I've been putting off and if I did more damage by not making this a higher priority. I just drained the oil out and noticed approx. 1 cup of antifreeze come out first. I am assuming it is a leaking head gasket, but I am wondering if I should be looking for some other clues or warning signs??? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Better yet, instead of guessing, if you already have the oil pan off, get a radiator pressurizing kit. Unscrew your radiator cap, hook up the tester and pressurize it up to about what it says on the radiator cap, then look underneath the tractor. Whatever sleeve or sleeves are bad, you will see antifreeze dripping from.

I would check those sleeves too. They have been known to leak when they get a lot of age on them.
They get like an old shoe left out in the weather.
Set a tub under the engine with the oil pan removed overnight to see if there's any leakage.
You can shine a light up on the sleeves to see if there's any antifreeze in that area.

If there is antifreeze present the engine would need to be torn down to remove those sleeves. Hal
to remove the sleeves

I would pull the head and check that gasket out. It could be that. It could be that you a have a crack in the head? However I had the same thing happen on my Allis B. The "O" rings on the bottom of the sleeves were all dried out and started leaking. When you pull the oil pan. Check to see if can see rust around the bottom of the sleeves. Its not really a hard fix but its kinda a pain. Andrew
