I rescently rebuilt my govenor and put it back in, and just wanted to check if I timed it right. The govenor gear that meshes in with the engine had one little black dot on it. I meshed that with the "O" on the other gear. Below the "O" were some part numbers. (I don't know the inside of a farmall engine. Is that the camshaft or crankshaft or what?)

Also on there was another small mark on the camshaft gear. I don't remember exactly what the second mark looked like. But it was only one small mark without partnumbers next to it.

Do you think I timed it to the right one? It starts up? I guess I could just check and see at TDC does the rotor appear to be in the right place. Thanks for any suggestions.

YOu probably did it correctly or it would have been many degrees off.
Check the timing (use manual or archives here), correct timing will improve efficiency and starting. Go for it.
