Does anybody know if a front end loader off of a 460 utility will work on a 240 utility? My guess is that you might have to modifty some brakets but I am not for sure. Would that loader be to much for a 240 since it came off of a 460? I dont' know anything about the loader just that I am suppose to go look at it sometime. Not sure what brand or anything. Sorry for the big question with little info on this side. Thanks for the help.....

Anything can be made to fit with a torch and welder. The question is, how much work are you willing to put into it?

I have a manual for an IH 2000 loader, and the basic loader did fit both styles of 460 (Farmall and Utility) and the 240 Utility, but the brackets were vastly different for each.

Darin: It may fit, raise up and down. If you really hate the 240 that much, get someone with a wrecking ball to smash it to bits.

Darin: Yes I certainly do, that 460 was quite a large tractor in it's day. Had you said you were putting it on a 340, I could have agreed. The 240 like the C, SC, 200 and 230 that preceeded it are much lighter tractors than the big boys. I know you are talking utility but the engineering is the same and just too light for a loader.

During my farming days my loader tractors were a Cockshutt 540, Farmalls 300 and 560. I took the last loader off my 560 in 1975. I'll never put another loader on a farm tractor of anysize. Just too costly for the performance you get.

I think you might be asking for front end trouble if you buy and put that loader on a 240. Don't think the front end is beefy enough for it.
