The diagram for my 826 has a diagram that shows where the wiring harness routes but not which wire goes where. Maybe my terminology is wrong. Maybe what I am looking for is a wiring schematic. I got a schematic for an 806 from the local dealer but he did not have one for an 826 or 856 ( I think they might be similar). If anyone can fax or e-mail me a copy of a wiring schematic - or even sell me a manual that has one in it, I would be indebted. I spent many hours this past weekend trying to figure out which wire connects where on my 826 with no luck. I have been tempted to get new wiring harnesses but then I still would need to know where the ends connect. Also, the original alternator or generator has been replaced with a single wire alternator. The tractor started and ran before we split it to overhaul the TA and tighten the shifting mechanisms. The main problem is/was that many of the wires were frayed and broken so when we put it back together, we tried to replace some of the wiring, obviously without luck.

I am certain that the 806 diagram is not the same as the 826 after spending most of my weekend trying to work off of it. I am confident that if I could find a good wiring schematic for a FARMALL 826, I could get the tractor's electrical system to work properly along with all the sensors and gages. Without a schematic, I could get it to start but not all, if any, of the gages and lights would work and would probably end up getting burned up or out.

HELP!!

Please try to send or post the wiring schematic for an 856. I think it should be the same. The one I have is from the dealer but does not show wire colors. All the diagram has is the whole bundle together so it is not possible to see which wire runs where. Another problem I have is with what is left of the existing wiring. I am not able to make out what the original colors were.
When you order a new wiring harness, does it come with the wire ends labeled as to where they go. I am leary of doing this because I would still need to know where they connect.

I agree with KB826. Get new wiring harnesses. Where did the diagram that you have now come from? If you have an operators manual, the diagram in it shows the electrical system with reference numbers pointing to all the wires and cables. Then on a second page; an index to reference numbers, the wires/cables are described as to color of wire and where/what it connects to. Simple to follow. If you do not have an Operator' Manual for your 826 , get one . Well worth the money . They can be ordered from this site $33.95.(Available from many other places too). Look in the left upper corner of this site's home page under Marketplace. Click on Tractor Manuals and go from there. I have manual for 756 and 856. Diagram of wiring system for 756 should be identical to 826 as they both had the German engine. Willing to try sending you a copy by e -mail or US Mail.

Just rewired ours about two years ago. Bought new harnesses from the dealer, around $300. Well worth it. I made the wiring for the lights myself. Get rid of that one-wire alternator, they are quite unreliable. If you buy new harnesses, go with the original Delco DN externally-regulated alternator. If you make your own wiring, go with a three-wire Delco 10SI. The diagram for an 806 Diesel w/ alternator is almost identical to the 826, and will get you by if you have a little basic electrical knowlege and can make out the colors of the old wires. Whatever you do, don"t screw around trying to reuse any of that 35 year old wiring, that"s a great way to cause problems or start a fire.
