Need some info on how to change the coil on H-4 mag.

I rewired the tractor to run off the mag(had external coil). I do not get any spark with just mag, will run like a top wired with external coil.

Also need to check points, will it get out of time if i pull the large cover off. I peeked in the small cover under the rotor and I see some gears.

Looked for the marks on the flywheel but i can't find them to check the timing. Other Sa has the marks. But it is batt ignition.

Thanks

Finally found it, looks like somebody trained needs to do this. pictures are so dark .

With such a poor quality pics and not wanting to print correctly, looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe i will back off and think long and hard on it.

I will tell you that you have to be exsremly carfull pressing the coil core in to the new coil. Sometimes they go like a knife through butter and you need to put asphalt on the core other times most of the time they dont go that easy and the core is very soft you can not pound on it and you can break the new coil very easy believe me its a real kick in the teeth when you break a $37.50 coil. That little cover you speak of with the gears it timed if you think the gears got out then it will need to be retimed. You can pull the 3 big screws on the front cover that holds the dist cap and pull it off exsposing the points with no problems. Just read the pages over and over in that online manual. JON
