i can't figure out how to get the engine block off the tractor (706). I have the 4 bolts from the frame rail off on each side. There is a 5/8" thread sticking out on each side, are those whats holding me up yet? The flywheel & plate should all come off correct?

it was my uncle that took it. after my grandpa died, it (706) was to be for any of the family to use. he didnt like that so he took it and hid it at his friends farm.i'll get it back though, 706's are to good of tractors to lose

Yep, you're not seeing the two bolts that come in from the rear. Leave one frame rail-to-rear engine plate bolt in on each side as you roll the tractor apart so the rear of the engine dosen't fall down.

I am assuming this is similar engine as my 560 gas. I am also assuming you don't have it split from the back half of the tractor. There should be two bolts that are located on the top of the engine coming from the back of the tractor into the top of the engine block. I believe they are 5/8" X 8 inches long. Hope this helps.

Dont forget to remove the two bolts back by the starter. They are about two inches long.

They had a tractor theft ring operating in SE PA
back in the 70's. They even made a TV movie about it. A father and his son were the ringleaders and the son testified against his father at the trial. Some of those from PA & MD that post on here may recall this. Hal

tractor thefts are getting rediculous these days, the government should form a branch to the FBI for this

A friend had a tractor stolen last summer. He and/or a buddy visited every consighment auction in the tri-state area. Guess what they found in adjacent state.
