Need to find out if the axels from an H will interchange with axels on SC. Need to find shorter axels for Shawn's tractor. Have the 100 inch ones now, will not be to good to pull hay wagon in parade....Thanks

Aw shucks, you guys aren't any fun,:>)

Was hoping they would work...:>(

Bob, I have a metel cutting band saw. I didn't really want to ruin a good set of 100 inch axles. But if push comes to shove I will wack them off.

Turk, if you were closer I probably take you up on your offer.

Don't really care if the housing is wider, just need to get it where axels are not sticking out so far. Will be a little dangerous in parades with all little the kids running around. And I am going to try to teach Shawn to drive it, and don't need him hanging the axels of fences, post and "my truck". It is bad enough when I forget and snag the fence.:>) :>) Thanks everyone!!

Keith, don"t feel bad about cutting them. There"s thousands of 100" axles out there, and nobody wants them! Only thing they"re good for anymore is smashing into your doorways!

A good chop saw will do it. A friend of mine just shortened my 240's axles (same axles as a Super C). He said it took less than an hour and one cutting wheel. It looks factory.

Keith & Shawn, try to find someone with a floor model band type of hack saw and whack them axels off. You may also be able to rent one at a tool rental place. I used my neighbors on my SC and took about 10" off of each one. I then milled a beveled hole in the center of each one and slightly rounded the outside diameter of each axel to make it look very original. I got tired of walking into them in the shop while restoring the tractor.

You will need the axle housings too.

I spaced off the part about the H, they don't interchange. My 100 inch SC has the axles torched off even with the hubs, all the way in. The 100 inch housings are about 4 inches longer than the standard tread, so if you used the standard shorter axle in your housing you would have keyway under your outer bearing and seal. I want to go back to the wide axle, so If you don't mind driving to NE to help change them I would sure be happy to trade.

Turk: The axle housings wont fit either. About the only items that might fit on both of these tractors are steering wheel and fenders. Even on those I wouldn't bet a lot of money.

Hugh, I'm not sure, but isn't the SC steering wheel a bit larger in diameter than the H??

Larry: As I said, I wouldn't bet a whole lot of money on this. I do know of fenders being traded from SC to an H, I suspect there are adapters to achieve this. I know that was the case between 656 and 756, with square and hex axle housing respectively.

On the steering wheel, I just checked a used parts catalogue I have, same steering wheel for all SA after s/n 355670, and all SC, 100, 130, 200, 230, H, M, SH, SM, 300 and 400. I agree some had 15" wheels and some 18" but hub and steering shaft were same size. Sounds as though all C and early SA had a smaller shaft. I know I've interchanged wheels between my SA, 130 and 300.

Don't bet much on the fenders anyway.

NO, the axles on an H are larger in diameter than the Super C ones.
