My dad and I have been working on restoring a Super M wide front we"ve had for years. We"ve got the entire motor completely stripped apart, and we just need to get an engine overhaul kit and start back in, but other than that, what are some other things that we should consider while we restore this SM? Also, we might need a good crankshaft, so if anyone"s got one and can ship, we may be interested. Any other helpful ideas and knowledge is greatly appreciated...THANKS Guys...

What's wrong with the crankshaft? If it isn't broken and has enough metal in the bearing jounals
it can be polished or ground undersize. A good auto machine shop would be able to give some good advice as to what your shaft needs or if it needs to be replaced.

That engine block should be degreased and have new cam bearings installed. This is so you have good oil pressure. You need close tolerances on the rod and main bearings too. Valve guides
should be checked for wear too and replaced if needed. Any valve that is too thin should be replaced too. Hal

Inspect, rebuild and/or replace clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing etc while you have the engine out. Just a few things to look at.

Cheers!

Sid
