I need some hay wagon help. I have an IH running gear, but I don't know the model and it has an weird way to bolt the bed down. It has 16" wheels with 8 bolt hubs. I can't figure out how to bolt the bed down because the back sits about 17" higher than the front and on the back there are 2 brackets that pivot front to back. the front beam pivots side to side. Thanks for any help.

Can't realy figure out your gear by your message. Could it be there was a hydraulic lift on the wagon that has been removed from the front which left the rear high? Can't figure out why the wagon wasn't level, especially rear end high. Can you remove the rear risers and make it level? Generally hay racks aren't bolted down but chained to provide a degree of flexibility. A picture or two would really help. Tell us more! Dick Davis

He's definitely either missing parts, or has extra parts on his running gear.

Obviously, you're not going to be able to mount the rack as-is. You're going to have to do some wrenching, and possibly some fabrication, to get things right.

That front-to-back pivot on the rear is wrong for a standard hay rack. To mount a hay rack on a running gear, there should two short vertical posts that the long rails on the rack fit between to keep it from sliding side to side. You can either run a bolt through one of these posts into a rail on the hay rack, or you can wrap a chain around the rail and wagon frame at one of the four points. Just don't secure both posts on both axles, or you will "rack" the wagon on uneven ground. One chain per axle on opposite corners is enough.

I took the rear brackets off that pivot front to back and the height is right. I took one of the vertical brackets off of the front and they fit where the other ones were. So I need to find two of those for the back. The other problem I ran into is I ran a 2x10 the length of the wagon and fit it up against the vertical brackets where it should mount. The problem is when you turn the wagon the front tires will run it to the board. I am positive this is a Farmall running gear but I have never seen one like this. Thanks for the info. P.S. does anyone know how I can post a picture of this wagon so you all could have a better idea what I am up against. Thanks
