I got the 100 home today and discovered that the manifold was full of collant!!!! So I guess the head is cracked, does this mean that I have to get a new head?? or can it be fixed?? Now after being really ticked off I cant get the head off. Any tricks on how to get them off? Thanks for the help! Andrew

If the coolant is in the manifold you have a head that is rusted thru probably one of the center ports of the exhaust. Thats where they usually rust thru have had three in last few years all the same place must have been a thin place to start with.

The head is rusted thru an can be fixed but you will be better off finding a good head as the repairs will cost 300 pluss.

You should have the head magna-fluxed to make sure the head is cracked, could be a head gasket
blown. Can not tell from your post why you cannot remove the head. Is it stuck to the block
or you don't have enough clearance? The hood has to come off. The head may be sticking to the head gasket. Be careful with your prying. Hal

As CNKS has suggested, do not drive a screwdriver
in between the head and block. This would do serious damage to your head and block. I wouldn't use any heat either.

You need to insert a thin blade putty knife between the head and the gasket. You need to be patient, someone may have coated the head gasket with some permatex.

I have heard in some cases the engine was started to free a cylinder head. I've never used this.
Did you ever find antifreeze in your engine oil?
Hal

Get a thin rigid paint scraper and carefully tap in, in two or three places. The head will come off. No need to use a lot of force. Don't use a screwdriver or heat.
