Okay... hopefully someone can either help or direct me to someplace...

The problem is on a 340 w/loader, right now you cannot shift without first pulling back on the Torque Amplifier. So, if the T/A is in the forward position, you cannot switch gears, you put your foot on the clutch and try to shift and the shifter will not move at all until you pull back on the T/A.

Thanks... I ordered the book and should have it in a few days. Once I get the book, if I have problems compensating for the age of the tractor etc. I will write. (which I'm SURE I will....)

Thanks

Cheryl: I may not be first or second, but KB and the vet are both right. These must be adjusted by the book and to the letter, close doesn't count.

In short what will fix your current problem is to shorten the short linkage between clutch shaft and TA shaft. Technically what that linkage does is shift TA to low side as you depress the clutch. You are currently having to do this manually with TA lever. Now, with haste order yourself a manual and have it dead on, your future repair bills will be much lower.

The clutch and T/A linkage is out of adjustment , Ya need to get and I T manual and fallow the set up on clutch free travel and clutch to T/A clutch adjustment. and with out looking at the book i can't give you the settings off the top of my head but i could do it sorta by feel as with the age of the older tractors there is wear that you have to compensate for that they don't tell ya about and sometime the masserments don't get the job done.

Easy fix, your clutch pedal and TA linkages are out of adjustment. I won't bore you with the details of what's actually happening inside of the TA that causes this problem when the linkages get out of adjustment, unless you REALLY want to know. A $25 I&T manual will show you a detailed adjustment procedure, it's a little hard to explain without the diagrams in front of you. Follow the directions to the letter, this is a very particular adjustment.
