The workhorse 100, now that its running, makes lots of gearbox noise. The left rear wheel has play and wobbles... So, I'm taking it apart to look and make a shopping list. Suppose I have to take everything behind the torque tube apart, transmission on a work table etc... ??? There aren't any gotchas or tricks to this are there? -Just get to all the bearings and check them out, replace, and put back together? I took off the top plate of the transmission and the gears looked good, and I couldn't move anything, so am thinking its an input shaft, or maybe because of the loose wheelbearing, the output??? Are there any tell-tell clues or just look and see??? Only transmission I've ever done was a cub's. Thanks guys.

Matt, Also keep in mind that the tractor pivots off of the frontend, so you need to put wooden wedges between the bottom of the steering box and the front tube so tractor wont tip over, or make a floor stand and attach to the side pads on the torque tube.

Matt, No real tricks involved in any disassembly. Tractor needs to be blocked up properly and wheels chocked. If you have up and down movement on your rear wheels your bearings are probablly shot. On the axle, you have 2 bearings, an inner and outer, maybe just the outer is shot, you will need to take apart to find out. You may as well replace all your seals if your going through all that work. Some of the seals can be a pain in the a$$. The pto seal is a bear to replace, I had to take the belt pulley housing and the PTO assembly off to put on a new one. Be happy to answer any particular questions.
