So I reply to a question asked by a potential ebay bidder, I get this reply I apologize for this automatic reply to your email.

To control spam, I now allow incoming messages only from senders I have approved beforehand.

If you would like to be added to my list of approved senders, please fill out the short request form (see link below). Once I approve you, I will receive your original message in my inbox. You do not need to resend your message. I apologize for this one-time inconvenience.

And then another one that tics me off is when you call someone to return a call and you get a message that you must leave your number to be "approved"
If people want to live in a box that's fine. I'll stay out of their box.

No kidding Howard--a worthwhile vent. I got the same thing when I returned a call that was left on our recorder--and I was returning the call they had left on ours in the first place. What a loop that was. Your time, and the other great folks on here, is more valuable than to have to play games! Steve

Ya Howard, I was going to ask you a question about the chicken roosts you had on ebay but then it said they were parts tractors and that put them in a different price bracket so I just bid on the air pre-cleaner. Dad has one like thqat on his M and it looks pretty neat. Ifn you get too many parts tractors and don"t know what to do with them, give me a holler and we"ll work out a transportation theory we have with another guy up northwest of you. We can haul tractors out to him, and chicken roosts back from you. Git-er-done, Harley

You think thats bad!! Our local High school football team has been known as the Rebels for more than 50 years. So last night the school board ruled- no rebel or other flags, no noise makers, as it may offend some persons. Well as writen the policy says no flags-- that means the Stars and Strips and I guess the ref. can not blow his whistle!!

I understand your problem, as I have been on the other end of it. When I had dialup, I had a bad problem with spam. It got bad enough that I took advantage of a feature my ISP had. He allowed us a "white list and a black list". The black list was for those email addresses I wanted blocked, the white list was those people I knew who did not have to undergo any screening process. Eventually I had it set up so ONLY those addresses I had listed would come through. In that case, if I began corresponding with someone I wanted email from, such as yourself, I would immediately put your address on the white list. Otherwise the person would get a notice from his ISP just as you did asking to the person to verify himself -- this notice would only be sent once, after that you got on the white list until your address was removed. If the bidders ISP is similar to mine, he should have added your name to his white list immediately after he sent the email. I since have changed to a broadband provider and have had zero problems with spam, I have no one blocked. It is unfortunate that the internet/email has this problem, the notice you received is one way to deal with it. I haven't run into the telephone problem you have as yet. I am on the national no-call list and have not had a single telemarketing call in the last couple of years--that list does work. Doesn't apply to "charitable" organizations though. One "hired gun" works for several police/firefighter type organizations that may or may not be legitimate. I recognize his voice and just hang up.

Amen, brother!
One of the guys that I call to help out on the farm has a telephone message that is intended to screen out telemarketers, so every time you call you must "press one to complete the call if you are not a telemarketer".
Some one else that I send e-mails to on occasion doesn"t seem to get them unless they are a response to his e-mail. I wonder if he has some kind of filter that thinks that I am "junk" or "spam".

Well, I have noticed a little "nip" in the air lately- now that it"s only been in the 70"s instead of the 90"s. After most of the summer in the 90"s, the 70"s seem nippy. You know, dew on the grass, shorter days, and then those darn trees had to go and change color. Here I go again! LOL!
It probably stems from the days in the middle of summer when my dad would gleefully say " the blackbirds are flocking". To him that meant that his favorite season, fall, was coming. To a kid, it meant returning to school!
Does the hole in the manifold of your W6 look like a drain hole? I don"t think my SW6TA has one, but I"m not sure.
Now if that hole is in your intake manifold..... ....LOL!

Looks like the hole is drilled, bottom left hand corner. Mines a kerosene model, hoping it's supposed to be there. When I lived in the arctic, we always had snow by the end of August. By November it was 24 hr darkness. Had a great time up there flying around the country, but too cold and snow for me now, rather have the heat.

The arctic does have a sort of romantic appeal, but I just don"t think I could take that much darkness. I don"t get depressed in winter from lack of light, but I sure do like to be in the sun when it"s there.
Like you, I am also on the road all year long, and it"s nasty in the winter. Especially when you have a 400 mile day planned and it includes Chicago. Or you have to push a piano up a ramp on the ice (one of my jobs-piano moving).
I definitely think I would call that hole a drain. Maybe drill 4 or 5 more so the W6 would sound like a high school kid"s pickup!

Those would be "vent holes". Don"t you dare fill them in or the pressure buildup of all those unwanted gas fumes will cause global warming, a rise in crime, and the black plague. Children will scream, women will weep, and grown men will shake their fists at the sky. Plus you could cause injury or serious death.
I"d have thought that you, a gas professional, would know that. LOL!
Or maybe gas was "thicker" back then, and didn"t leak out of those holes.
