Hello Folks; I am hoping to get some help with another problem. I have a Farmall "C" that has not been run in a couple of years. I have tried to turn it over with 12 volts on the starter but no luck. I bench tested the starter and it runs good. How do I free-up the engine? Thanks in advance!!!

Pour a cup of Liquid Wrench into each spark plug hole and let set for a few days.

Pull the spark plugs and put oil in the cyliders, tranny fluid is fine too, let it sit at least a week.

Pull the starter, inspect it while it"s out and make sure it works, get a long crow bar and stick it in the hole in the bell housing the starter came out of and into a flywheel tooth and pry the flywheel around.

Easiest unsticking method I know of, and I"ve unstuck engines that wouldn"t move even when being drug down the road in gear.

If I had it I'd fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and leave it a week or so. The I would try the starter again with the plugs out. Also be sure to keep the plugs in after filling it. If it turns over then good if not I'd then fill the cylinders with turpentine, not paint thinner but the real thing. Then I'd try the starter agin after a few days. Also each time you try the starter pull the plugs

Had one once that was supposed to be just "a little stuck".Worked for weeks trying to free it up, no luck. Pulled the head, that was that, cylinders full of rust. Should have pulled the head first and I would have know then what I was up against.

I would pull the head and see what the cylinders
look like. Probably stuck from rust. I would use transmission fluid and let sit for awhile for the fluid to soak in around the pistons. If you are still unable to free the engine, I would drop the oil pan and unbolt the connecting rod caps and tap on those rods with a piece of oak wood to see if the pistons move or the wet sleeves. You need to be patient and don't hammer on the rods too hard. It will free up eventually. Hal
Keep pouring the tranny juice over the pistons.

You"re gonna get a lot of followups on this one. It"s according to why it"s stuck. If the starter is stuck in the ring gear just loosen the starter and start over. If the pistons are froze there will be as many answers as there are people. I would fill the top of the cylinders with fuel oil and let it set a week. GL.

One trick I have used is to put kerosene or similar into the spark plug holes, then drop the oil pan, jack up the tractor a bit and place a sturdy piece of wood between the ground or floor and a crank throw that is close to right angles to the floor. Let the pressure off the jack so the weight of the tractor is on the crank throw. After a few days if the tractor has come down the motor has turned a bit.
