The fast hitch on my 560D will surge up and down. There is also a leak in the valve set up uner the dash. Could this leak be letting the lift drop and then the valve be trying to raise it back up and keep where it is set?

Ronald: If the hitch gradually goes down then at some point hydraulics bring it up to the pre set position the the leak could be the only problem.

If however the hitch is always hunting, I would be inclined to believe problem is in the tele-depth control. The valve itself has a small set of spider gears that do wear out. When this happens, usually the hitch will never stay in one position, just continuous raising and lowering.

Let us know which you believe it to be doing and someone will advise your best repair approach.

Hugh, yes the hitch is contstantly jumping up and down about an inch or two. Every so often it will quit and stay put when it wants to. I tried adjusting the linkage both ways, it would seem to stop it but when you raise the hitch up and down with the valve it starts jumping again. I have a manual for a tele depth control, but it show a cable and mine has a round rod, with a totaly different hookup. Thanks Ronald
