I am reinstalling the loader on my 300U and would like to know how much oil it takes. The loader is just like the one in the picture. Also what type of oil should I use?

Thanks,
Joe

does the loader run off the tractor hydraulics or a seperate pto pump?

if tractor hydraulics just pull the dip stick for the tractor hydraulics and make sure it's in range. use case ih hy-tran. may take alittle bit to get all the air out of the system.

if it's an external system the tank should have a full mark. i would just use universal hydraulic oil in that case.

in both cases check the fluid level with loader down and bucket up.

The loader has its own pump that runs off of the front of the engine. The oil reservoir is the pipe tubing loader frame. There is a pipe fitting near the top with a breather cap and has no dipstick. Should I fill it like you said, with loader down and bucket up, to the top?

you got it! make sure all the cylinders are "closed up",(arms down and bucket tilted up/back). fill the tank, run it alittle bit, work the hydralics to get the air out. shut her down and check the level and top off again. don't fill it full, maybe a few inches shy from the top. when the oil gets hot it will expand and you'll have a mess. good luck.
