I am lookin into pullin my dads Super W6 in stock antique classes and want opinions on it. I know its basically a wheatland Super M, but I can only find weight and horsepower specs on the regular W6 and SM, so anyone know what they are? Is it too heavy to pull? If you have seen one pull how did it do? Thanks for all the help in advance. Jared

These are the Nebraska Test results for the Super W-6 gasoline. Test #476, max hp belt 46.25, max hp db 41.57, max pull 5663 lbs @ 2.49 mph, corrected hp 48.77 max belt, 43.71 max db. Weight as tested with operator 9137 lbs. Nebraska test weight with no ballast 5515 lbs. Speeds from specs: 1st 2.58, 2nd 3.68, 3rd 4.78, 4th 6.58, & 5th 16.15. Shipping weight 5115 lbs in specs. Actual weight when delivered at Nebraska was 400 lbs more than advertised weight but that weight included operator so tractor was actually probably about 200 lbs heavier than advertised.

Jared, while I am not a puller myself, I have seen lots of W series set up as pullers and they perform quite will against their counterparts. The weight is similar to the row crop equivalants, and while they concede rear wheel diameter, they are usually equipped with wider tread tires which enhances the traction. Since the W-6 is geared the same as the M, its ground speed is lessened somewhat by the smaller rear wheel diameter which gives it more HP relative to ground speed. Since pulling is a combination of HP and traction relative to the weight of the tractor vs the weight of the sled, it comes down to operator esperience and ability, and the ability to tweak the wieght distribution and Horse power, along with getting maximum traction from the tires. From talking to others, half the fun and enjoyment of pulling is in tweaking the tractor to get maximum performance within the given parameters. That also means getting better as an operator. Knowing that you got all there is to get out of the horse power provided by the tractor, all the traction to be gotten with the tires you have, and knowing how and where to set the weights, and how to get a few extra feet of pull when there isnt an inch more to be had is what makes pulling attractive to many people. I suppose the trophies are nice too, but then which bowling trophy are you planning to remove to make room?

the w-6 has a different ratio ring and pinion, this gives them the same travel speed as an 'm'.
