Another Q about 350 Utility

Trying this again, last time it didn"t go through...?

Anyway, I talked with the owner of the 350 I brought up in my previous thread. He says it has no hitch at all on the back, not even a drawbar. Furthermore, he said the loader that"s on it connects to the rear axle, and that would make rigging up a 3-pt hitch problematic.

I"m going to see it on Sunday, but does this sound right to y"all? Seller says he investigated putting a 3-pt system on it and it was going to run into four figures to do it.

If it"s otherwise a decent tractor, maybe I don"t mind doing the work, just curious how this sounds to you guys. Thanks for all the knowledge and your patience with a total newbie.

Howdy,

I have a 1957 350 Utility that also has a loader that attaches to the rear axle. My 3-point is actually an IH two point quick-tach with a top link point on the actual pivot rock shaft -- the whole assembly bolts to the top of rear differental housing, as stated, and has a left side cylinder that runs front-to-rear with the head end under the front of the seat. The lower lift arms come together & the pivot is bolted up under the rear center of the tractor with three large bolts. There is no interference with the rear axles and large loader brackets. The third valve, as mentioned, is added onto the valve stack with longer bolts and an o-ring kit. Hope this helps...

Roger, I have bought parts for my 340U from "Wisconsin Tractor Parts". Good thing for me they are close to my house but they also have locations out of Wisconsin.

Look up Link I bought my rear arms there to hook up for all of my 3pt accessories. The arms NEW costed me $120.00. Everywhere else was $180.00 and higher.

Is it possible that this is an industrial model? IF so it might not even have a PTO. Now it can still be added, but it is a pretty big job. I would think a creative welder could figure a way to fabricate brackets to allow the drawbar to attach while the bucket is installed.

Figuring your new tractor out is one of the most interesting parts of tractor ownership.

Well, that's great news. Am I going to need to find a fast hitch used somewhere, or can I simply find the components new? If used, I assume they're readily available?

Thanks again, gentlemen.

I'm trying to find my notes here, but the owner did say it has a PTO. Just no hitch or drawbar at all.

I believe the installation of a fast hitch (as Paulih300 suggests) is the ticket. the question of Ind.PTO is important if you intend to Bush-Hog some areas that require detailing. This whole unit is a good buy without a hitch, as others have said. .02 worth JimN

Basic Utes came with a fixed drawbar that clamped to the rear axle.It could be adjusted for up and down.It was obviously removed for the loader.A Fast Hitch doesnt interfere, but you would need the whole deal off another tractor, plus the 3rd valve.
