It's been done a few times. An even neater idea, I think is the pop-up/fold out units with the wheels removed. They fold up and lower to reduce the wind resistance and offer more room for camping. Be careful about length because they have to be mounted crosswise. (the bunks expand out the sides and the door goes to the rear deck).

Saw one today going down the highway today. It was a a pickup camper on a gooseneck double axel trailer. A small car was on the rear of the trailer also. This was all being towed by a F250 diesel.

A fellow brought one to our show a couple of years ago, looked good. I'm not sure if the camper was able to sit on the trailer floor or if he built a platform under it so it would clear the gooseneck. He had some toolboxes that would mount along the sides of a pickup truck mounted along the sides of the camper for lockable storage.

Never seen one, but it sounds like a plan. Years ago we ran a slidein camper on the pickup and pulled a bumper hitch flatbed. That worked great also, but I realize you already got the goose neck trailer. Go for it. You might start a new trend.

Yes they are starting to appear. Why not there is plenty of room for the tractor on the back.

I put my 11 foot pickup camper on this homemade 5th wheel trailer about 3 years ago. I haul it behind my 1988 F250 with 351M engine and automatic trans. It hauls great. However; when you get to 60 MPH and higher, it sure catches alot of wind. Mileage suffers because of the extra wind load. I like the idea of being able to pull into somewhere, unhook and have my truck back. This trailer isn"t large enough to put a tractor on the back, but it does have about a 6 or 7 foot deck on the back. PS I hope this works because I have never tried to upload a photo here before. Well, I see the picture didn"t appear.
I right clicked on the box where the picture should be. Then I clicked on view image and the picture appeared in a seperate window. Oh well, I tried. Gene
