I have a 350 Inernationalutility and need advice in changing it over from a 6 volt system to a 12 volt system using an alternator. What type of alternator would work best? Also the proper wiring schematic. In addition I am looking for parts to hook up to the quick hitch for 3 point.

I have one of those Japanese alternators still in the NAPA box if you decide to try that.

A Delco will fit without cutting or bending hood, although it is a tight fit. As soon as I get time I'll take a few pics of one.

I'm doing that to a 300U, a delco alternator doesn't fit unless you cut the hood which I will not do. An alternator from a 1989 toyota pickup will fit, it wires the same as thye delco

The Delco will fit, just need to turn the mount around and use a shorter belt. Have one on a 300, same hood size as a 350.

Ok let me say it this way, most delcos will not fit, there are a number of sizes of them and the common ones will not fit but the smaller one may, thats why I use a toyota one there small and they also fit with more room to move etc.

I converted mine to 12 volt, put in a GM alternator an old one got it at a good price ,had to buy a 12 volt regulator for it and go to the trouble of mounting it and wiring it in and it was very tight under the hood of the 350 utility next time I'll buy the one wire Alt. make sure you get a ballist ressitor for your points for the 12 volts will burn them in no time;cuts the volts down to about 8 volts Gene

I just did a 12 volt switch today on a 300U, I used an alternator from an Iszusu trooper, had a lot of room and used the same belt as the genny did. only needed 2 wires and a diode.
