H Carb Leaks Like a Seive

All of the sudden (in the middle of the night) my H carb started leaking a stream of gas out of the choke arm (I forgot to turn off the gas at the tank). At any rate, I don't think the gas level in the carb is supposed to be up that high in the first place. What's wrong, the float? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tony

Give it about three taps on the side with a small hammer....Could be the float is sticking....

The float may have a small hole....filled with gas and sank....if so drill the hole with a very small drill bit,let it drain and dry....then clean and soder with a small drop of soder.

Probably just a tiny speck of rust or something in the needle valve, or some old fuel residue causing the valve to stick. You're correct, the fuel shouldn't be that high, but if the needle valve can't shut off the flow, then the fuel will try to seek the level of whatever is in the tank.

Or a pinhole in your float. When you take the carb apart, shake the float to see if any liquid is inside. If so, that"s probably your problem. If not, then like Rusty said.
