theres a Mc Cormick W-6 or W-9 down the road from me in the back of a yard,
It has a farmhand on it,
the kind that has a big triangle shaped frame that goes around the tractor,
Man,what a hassle to get on this poor tractor,
climing thru those Iron frame,s to get into the seat, whew what a chore!
I guess they didnt think about that back when they used these thing,s,
about 45 to 50 yrs ago,

You think getting on a W6 or W9 with an F10 is bad? That"s just like stepping up on one without a loader, just watch your head if you are very tall.

Growing up we had an 4010 with an F10 (I think, may have been an F25, sold it on an auction when I was 8, didn"t really pay much attention). Well, this 4010 had a Year Round cab on it, but with the down braces the door wouldn"t open, so you climbed in through the back window. I have a picture of us kids hanging over the sill getting in...

45 to 50 years ago? An MD with an F10 is still my best loader tractor! Up until 10 years ago when Dad died, it still helped load or unload unload semis full of round bales to feed 500 head through the winter.

Kirk,

You have to put the time line in context.

At that time you had the choice of either lifting manually, using one of those flimsy little trip bucket things, or the 'new' Farmhand with that cage.

So, if you wanted some real muscle, you went with the Farmhand.
