Guy Fay's book FARMALL LETTER SERIES TRACTOR points out several other changes:
1)Higher compression ratio 5.9:1 vs 6.1:1
2) New rocker arms with a special oil metering notch
3)New exhaust valve rotators were added.
4) Camshaft was changed to lenghten the time the intake valves were open.
5) Beefed up crankshaft.
6) Larger diameter bearing journals.
7) Clutch size increased from 10" to 12 ''.
8) Transmission gear ratios changed. Also beefier gears and bearings in transmission and rear end.
7) Larger mains and rod bearings.
8) Aluminum pistons.

Look at the casting date codes on big parts like the block, head, torque tube, tranny case, rear axle tubes, etc. If they end in Y or Z (meaning 1953 and 1954) it's definitely a Super. Later months with an X year code could also mean a Super. However earlier months with an X year; and date letters earlier in the alphabet than X indicate a regular H.

Only the later production (so-called "stage II") Super H's has live hydraulics - early production have belly pumps. All however have C-164 engines and disk brakes.

On the engine block, behind the oil filter, should be a number, a super H will be C-164, a regular H will have a number, but it will be different. Just one of many things.

Motor,Completly round brakes disc instead of drum, Carb bigger same as an M,I would imagine the serial would tell a tale to I would think. It could have live hydrolics by the distributor instead of a belly pump. Just a few things I think of . JON
