I have a 1955 International 300 Utility I think. Trying to get a Carburetor Kit. The only SN# I have on the clutch is 3866 J. Need help identifying tractor for parts.

Steven: Don't get hung up on that number being a clutch serial number. It is the tractor serial number and J is all that refers to clutch. It just indicates tractor has a Rockford clutch.

If you listen to Paul, you'll find what you need. I rather doubt there is any other engine besides C-169 or C-175 that will fit in that tractor and bolt up. H or SH engine would bolt up at back but not out front.

Yup,I'm impressed with the C169 class engine.50 years and no visible signs of a rebuild.Burns no oil,and only a rich running carb to blacken the plugs.Instant cold weather startup, and quick warmup.High oil pressure,no knocks, ticks or leaks. No oil coming from the road draft tube either. They did these engines right! If only everything was as well built...nobody would ever need parts!

Sure sounds like a 1955.The 300s and 350s used the same carb kit.So you dont need the year.Just make sure its a I-300(300U) with a C169 engine.

Hi PAULIH300
How do I find out if its a c169 engine. The tractor has 300 Utility International on it.

Steve

All 300Us came with the C169 gas 4 cylinder. Its cast into the engine block right behind the distributor cap.
The 300s and 350s used IH's own carburetor and not a Zenith or Marvel Shebler.

Post a pic of your Ute if you can!

The backhoe is more than likely from some manufacturer other than IH.That could be a problem as far as parts are concerned.NORTHERNTOOL lists many hydraulic cylinders if you need to replace one.
