Super MTA manuals?

Can anyone tell me what manuals came with the purchase of an SMTA when new? I'd like to get all the originals if I can. I'm especially interested in the one which contains preventive maintenance information. I purchased one manual from CaseIH, but it only briefly explains the features of the tractor and isn't all that good. I don't have it handy at the moment, but would this be the owners manual or operators manual. It contains pictures of other make tractors and cartoons relating to safety. I want the one with the cut-a-way view of the tractor and attachments. Thankyou for any help! Mark R.in NY

I just had to chuckle. Ah to be naive. :)

Original Super MTA manuals are made of GOLD, or at least the prices they bring make you think they are...

The reprint you got from CaseIH is THE owner's/operator's manual for the Super MTA. That's all that came with the tractor. It should have some information on operating the tractor, lubrication guide, wiring diagrams, etc.. They never came with a book of cutaway views or pictures of attachments. Heck, they didn't even come with attachments. You bought the attachments separately, and the manuals that came with the attachments had pictures of them mounted on the tractor...

For my 2cents worth ,I like to get an original manual for my tractors .I have had reprints but don't like them as well as the original equipment I find that Ebay is the best source and there will be one come up sooner or later. The reprints are kinda pricey and not a lot cheaper than originals.

Only advantage of the original manuals is that they were just that -- original, and printed by whatever company IH was using at the time. The reprints are IDENTCAL, except that they are the latest version and may be updated to reflect changes made after the original manuals were printed. For example, the current Super H operator's manual makes no mention of the belly pumps that were on the stage 1 Super H. Binder Books also makes an attempt to duplicate the original covers. Other reprints have non-original covers and binding instead of loose leaf (parts and service manuals) and may even include advertising for the company that printed them, that I don't like.

IH provided only the operator's manual with the tractor. Reprints of all factory manuals are available from several sources including Case-IH. Highest quality reprints are available from Binder Books. They have a website, add the usual prefix and suffix or call 503-684-2024.

Thankyou very much for all the information everyody. The reason I thought that there were more than one manual is that I own a 1944 Farmall A and there is in fact 3 manuals that came with it new, as it was my grandfathers. I believe one say's owners one say's operators or maybe maintanance and one say's attachments.
