It could be any of 1000 different problems, or no problem at all. That's the problem with a vague 2-sentence description at an online site.

The only sure-fire advice I can give is to tear it completely apart and rebuild with all new parts back to factory spec. If it still makes the same noises, you either screwed up or you spent a whole bunch of money and time you didn't need to... Sorry, but that's the best anyone could possibly do with the given information.

I have found that by changing the input bearing on the tranny most of the time will quiet things down and then run 140wt gear lube.

Gene, What is the official name or part number of the "input bearing" you are referring to? Thanks Ramon

In my experience Farmalls all have tranny noise as did the autos of that era. We had a joke about how noisy Dad's A was (especially in 4th) "if it ever quits making noise, then you worry about it" The noise of which is speak is a steady whining noise which has different tone in each gear. I can listen to the sound and tell which gear it's in. The experienced mechanics on this forum could probably help if you've got clicks, grinding noise, etc.
