I can't get my M to start. I don't know that much about trouble shooting or anything. I know that it's getting gas and it has spark, don't know why she won't fire. It'll crank and really try hard to start, but won't. She was running fine and then one day, wouldn't start. I thought maybe she wasn't getting enough gas, but I think it is and the plugs all spark, what's the next step to check into, any help would be appreciated.

Is it cold where you are at? You mention that it is getting gas and spark and tries hard to start, so I’m presuming that it is firing, but won’t keep running. I have had it where the control rod between the governor and the butterfly in the carburetor will get frost or condensation in it and stick with the butterfly in the idle condition. Applying some heat to the tube where this rod is in will usually break it loose. I don’t recommend shutting it off and then opening the throttle as a cure for this as then the engine will rev up. My thought is that not starting is the better option of the two.

Hope this helps.

I would also try all of your plug wires and double check them for spark. When I mean double check, I mean make sure that all of the boots are making contact and have not pulled away from the wire. In addition to that or after that, I would invest in a full tune up set. Points and condensor alone can make a tractor stop dead and it's an easy fix too.

try squirting ether in the carb, at least then you will know for sure if it is a spark or fuel problem.
