In a prior post a fellow made mention that it was a no no to add antifreeze and water to my A without first mixing It. Seeing as how I did not mix the two after pulling the radiator I was wondering if this can cause a problem?

That was probably me - Thermosiphon systems don't mix the fluid very well, like a pump system will. Thus if you add the antifreeze and top it off with water, it will keep the antifreeze in the bottom of the engine till it over heats, and boils over. Probably the same thing would happen if you put water in first. Didn't try that - dumped it out and mixed it properly then put it back in!

I do it like Bob does his by mixing before hand.
If you aren't sure if it's mixed by now I would drain the radiator, stir it good and pour back into the radiator.

Before you do this, check the mixture with a hydrometer to see what protection you have. Walmart has these and they're very inexpensive.
The temp here in MD was in the teen's this morning, so you need to check this ASAP. I protect my vehicles down to -30 degrees. Hal

The water and antifreeze will mix eventually mix in the thermosyphon system.

It won't circulate as well until it mixes, and the real risk would be if you let it sit in BITTER cold temperatures without it having had time to mix, and there might be a freezing risk. Cover the grille so it warms up, and drive it around so the coolant is warm and moving by thermosyphon action. The warmth and sloshing from driving it around SHOULD help it mix.

I either buy pre-mixed coolant, or mix it before pouring it in a cooling system. I have a clear 2-1/2 gallon plastice jug. I dump a gallon of antifreeze in the jug, followed by a gallon of WARM water, put the cap on, and shake the HECK out of it. Works for me!

well,
Just I think as long as you run it for a while it should mix it. Don't know about A's... Do they have a constant flow sipohon system?
