Can someone tell me the differences between the Farmall model H and Super H? I've found a one owner '45 H in awesome condition with wide front end for $2200 and a '53 Super H with a wide front end in very good condition for under $2000. Are these prices appropriate? thanks. Mike

Mike - Compared to an H the major differences in the Super H is a larger engine (= more power), disc brakes, and different transmission gearing (slightly faster in the higher gears).

Also later production (Stage II) Super H were equipped with live hydraulics. However about 11,000 early production (Stage I) Super H’s were built with belly pumps.

There’s other minor differences in things like the carburetor, electrical system, lighting, etc.

Myself I’d grab the Super H and pass on the other. Compared to the regular H the SH is a relatively uncommon tractor. And even fewer SH’s were built with factory wide fronts. The asking price is not too far out of line – especially for a WF.

I can't say I know everything about the differences between the two, but I know that you would be foolish to pay more for a regular H than a super H unless the condition is worlds apart. Other guys will respond and tell you the exact differences, but I for one will tell you to jump on that 53 super H. just my $.02

By the way Mike, if you don't want that 53 super let me know where she is, if it is within a day's drive I'll take er.

Right you are Brian,

Leave that old '45 set; doesn't matter how "pretty" it is.

Grab the '53 Super before someone else does.

Just my take,

Allan

I think the prices on both are about $400 to $600 too high. Just my opinion.
