No fuel to cylinders on M

I am trying to get a M started after sitting for two years and there is no gas getting up into the cylinders. I rebuildt the carberator and checked the following: fuel coming out of line has good flow, new gas, throttle is not stuck, tune up parts replaced, valves and rods all moving properly, distributor is turning. Choke seem to be working also.

continuing syptoms: I am getting alot of flow back leaking from the carb., tried ether in the manifold whole, got it to pop a time or two but still no fuel... don;t even smell fuel on ignition plugs.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions on what could be the problem.

The two posts about towing are the best ideas. Add a little Marvel Mystery Oil from WalMart into the spark plug holes, leave it a while, then turn it over with the plugs out until all the excess oil is blown out. The MMO will help loosen the rings.

After you get it running add some MMO to the gas and oil per the label.

Don't understand "flow back leaking from the carb". Please be a little more specific.

I suspect that your idle misture and power valves are still gummed up with old gasoline. Give them a good shot of pressurized can carb cleaner with the valve screws removed. A last resort is soaking the complete carb in Berryman's Carb Dip Cleaner, this stuff will clean anything.

Hi Mike, I would squirt some engine oil into the cylinders and turn the engine over several times.
Then squirt some gasoline into the cylinders and replace the plugs. Then try to start the engine.

If this fails I would check the compression on each cylinder. The rings may be seized in their grooves causing very little compression. The compression should be close to one another, any big difference between cylinders
would be cause for concern. The engine may need to be torn down. I would tow it and see if it will start before I went that route. Good Luck, Hal

Take the pipe to the breather off and hold your hand over the carb intake while cranking. You should feel suction. If not you probably have one or more valves sticking. A compression gauge will also answer the same question.

Are you getting fuel to the carb, you might have a screewn in the fuel sediment bowl plugged. You also have a screen in the inlet of the carb that could be plugged. Check them two things and see if that helps.

Flow of fuel from carb may be over choking or stuck float valve. Lack of fuel to cylendars could be clogged jet. I would consider carb tear down and recheck those two crucial componets.

What does it do with a little ether? I had a JD with real low compression. It would always start and run ok though low on power. One spring after it sat all winter it wouldn't start. Nothing we could would make it even pop. We squirted some oil in the cylinders to give it better compression, nothing. gas in the cylinders, nothing. Ether, nothing. Then we got discused and we were towing it to my friends place so it could sit there for a while. On the way I threw it in 4th and let the clutch out. Darn if it didn't start.
