Plus I have one on each front wheel dust cap. Is this correct for a 49 H?

Pretty much anything you can find at your farm store or even wal-mart will be just fine.

I use regular grease on my H. Be VERY careful when greasing the clutch zerk that you don't over-do it and have slippage.

Jeff

Hey Jeff. In the event some reader of this forum might have been bone headed enuf to overgrease his clutch zerk on a 240, what's the symptom? Like can't get the clutch to engage and freewheel the drivetrain? And -- just supposing now since nobody I know could ever be THAT dumb -- what would be the cure and does it involve a split?

I...uh...have a buddy who would really like to know! Thanks.

Good deal, thats what I figured, thanks for the tip on the clutch zerk, there isn't any others that I should worry about over filling is there? Also, does anyone know about how many total there is, i don't need to know where they are i'll find them all eventually, i was just wondering if anyone had a number, thanks!

Don't over grease the water pump and pick up an operator's manual.

Let me think on that, if it's an early H, there will be one on the PTO, one on top of each rear axle, one on top the steering shaft just forward of the steering wheel, another on the steering u-joint under the hood plus one on the bushing where the shaft goes through, one on each end of the clutch shaft, one on the water pump(one or two shots here), and one on the front of the tractor. I think that's nine if I counted right. Yours may not have one on the PTO, but you may have two on the water pump.

I forgot about that one, may have missed some others as well. It's always good to have others checking up on me.
