I need to pump out my pond to do some cleaning and expansion. I stopped at Tractor supply and found a couple of trash pumps in the $250-$400 range depending on the engine. I asked about a PTO driven pump but was told they don"t carry anything like that. Anyone know where I can purchase a PTO driven pump? That way, I"ll be just paying for the pump and not another engine to maintain.
Thanks, Bill

Usually if you are only going to use a piece of equipment once or very rarely it is cheaper to rent it than own it.

To pump the volume that you want to move you will probably need a 3 or 4 inch pump. The hose alone would require a major bank loan to purchase.

GOOD LUCK

what you need is a pump like they use here to pump irrigation water out of streams or ponds. I would think a used one would not be hard to come by. Another thought would be the pto pumps the use to empty manure lagoons.

You could probably use a field sprayer pump to do that. Any farm supply store that carries stuff for sprayers would have one. I would recommend that you find a used one at a junk yard or something though. I used one on our W6 to pump water and I couldn't for the life of me keep that thing in its barrel. It had so much pressure that it just shot the tube right out!! Good luck, I hope it helps.
