Stu yes the 56 shift levers and linkage can be put on 706,806,1207 The right hand steering suport where the park cam comes through has to ground out for the 56 shift put many on back in the 60' & 70's.

Stu- I just did a 706. Make sure that all of your parts come from a 756. All of the others- 856, 1256, 1456, 826, 766, 966, 1066, and 1466 are a couple inches taller than the 706 and 756, and trying to use those bigger tractor parts won't work, especially the shafts/tube running down from the dash, and the right-hand steering support. If you have hydraulic couplers at the center of the tractor, you will need to eliminate them to make room for the new linkage, and besides, the 756 right side steering support won't have the threaded holes for the couplers to screw into.

Is there a way around not removeing the center couplers on the 806 I use both of them and the shifter needs to be updated too.

Stu- sorry to say it, but there is no good way to keep the center couplers. The steel lines coming forward under the platform for the left-side couplers get in the way of the 56/26/66 series linkage, while the 56/26/66 series right-hand steering/fuel tank support does not have the threaded holes for the couplers. My 706 has a loader, so I used those center couplers too. While I was rebuilding the 706 rear-end, I had the loader on the 826, which just has rear couplers, so I had to extend the loader hoses anyway. When I found out I needed to eliminate the center couplers on the 706, I just said "to heck with 'em, I've got enough hose now to get around to the rear couplers". To eliminate the center couplers, just get rid of everything you have now, come out of the control valves with 90 degree hose fittings, and run hydraulic hose to two sets of breakaway couplers in back. By the way, center couplers, coming out just under the platform, were an option on 56 series tractors, but are very, very rare. I don't think I've ever seen one like that, but those parts might be worth looking for.
