W6 gauge trouble

I bought an oil pressure gauge for our W6 about a year ago. A month later, it got stuck at 0. I blew it out and it never worked quite the same. It would take a long time to move.(would still have oil pressure 5 or 6 minutes after the tractor shut off) Has anyone else had trouble with this? Can I put an adaptor on it with an air compressor fitting and use my air compressor to test it, or will that make it worse? It is one of those gauges that have the male end on the gauge and require an adaptor to the oil pressure line from the block. It was purchased from a Case IH dealer. Can anyone give me any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Also, I was curious if anyone knows the weight of a stock gas W6 and would it be any good for stock class tractor pulling? I just want to do it for fun, not money. Thanks!!!

I just pressed an old W6 into service and love it. I always used the row crops and thought those W's were for the old guys, but I'm loving it. It runs my irrigation pump and pulls the spreader. I ploughed last week with it and my SM. Pulled very similar. Considering the M and W6 have the same engine but different wheels I think the M may take her, but the front wheels stay planted better under heavy loads. I just looked in my data books and could'nt find a weight for the W6, but I would think she's as much as 1000 lb.s more than the M.
Hey to get back to the original question...be sure your oil line is clear before you throw that gauge over shoulder but they are often goofy. Just too bad you did'nt take it back sooner.
