Fellas, I got a puller I am building, it is a IH 460, I built last winter. I am thinking of putting on a turbo. Not one of those huge monsters either,,, LOL will run around 3500 rpms max, Is there a manifold that would work to do this fromthe factory, or M&W? Still like to keep it "Stock in appearence" Kinda,,, Any info would be great! Thanks, Chads

I put a turbo on an 806 gas ran like a champ.Used a stock turbo off a 1066 made an adaptor to mount it on the stock manifold blew it through the carb.Ran very strong. I used larger fuel line with a walboro electric pump, and remove the choke from the carb. You will definitley have to step up the ignition.

The engine is out of a 403 IH Combine 263. 1970 I think,, it is pretty strong, bout 73 on 94 pump gas. It is bone stock, internally, all the rest of the parts, carb, dist, etc has been gone over and rebuilt. My goal is around 110-130 hp and try to keep it as small engine (cubic inch) that I can. Also, it is a light weight puller,, 3500lbs with me on it, I know about the 301, and for the bang for the buck it would be a good route to go, I wish I could find a set of 806 LP gas pistons, some high compression pistons there. But, I like the idea of the thick cyl walls in the 263, a bit stronger that way. ChadS

I may be wrong but I've been told that the 806 gas engines were nothing more than a sleeveless 460 block with a different carb. They always pull well out here in Iowa with that setup.

I have been thinking about doing the same on a diesel 560. I want to find a used turbo from some junked car(free or cheap) . The problem with turbo-ing a gas tractor is you have to put the carb before the turbo,ie hard starting and crappy throttle response because the fuel/air mix has to travel the whole system before it gets to the engine,it'll be easy to flood and hard to start
,but good top end power. If you figure out a good way to do it,post it here I want to hear all about it.

Chad you can't force air through an up draft carb.I tried for most of two winters, finally built an adapter box used a down draft carb from a ford pinto. Never was very sucessful. Also tried the turbo on a 350 diesel with the continental engine. with the energy cell injection it didn't work well either.Your simple power add, stick a 560 engine in it
