If you are trying to get it off mating surfaces to reinstal them try a wire brush in an electric drill.

mineral spirits works great after you"ve gotten the big stuff off with a razor blade. it"s cheap and doesn"t usually attack much paint! just keep wipin it on and the rtv curls up and flakes off!

i usually get the major stuff off with a putty knife and razor then take a scotchbrite pad to it.

Rubbing alcohol is a good surface cleaner, and a solvent while it is still liquid and hasn't started to set. After that, a razor blade it your best choice. Note too that silicone doesn't stick well to cured silicone.

OK I might as well use my two cents. I buy carb cleaner at walmart for .88 cents a can and boxs of single edge razor blades from the cheap tool sales works for me. JON

Don"t mean to argue with you but the carb cleaner will remove paint also.

I think plain old rubbing alcohol will probably work.

After silicon is allowed to cross-link (setup) it cannot be dissolved. In fact it takes somewhere around 3000 deg F to burn the stuff.
