rebuilding a carb off an H for a friend and as i was disasembling it a ball fell out, size of a BB. putting a basic rebuild card kit in it and its not to clear as to where this ball goes. It has to do with starting shutter according to instructions that came with kit. It also said something about a spring that this ball goes with, no spring fell out when the ball did. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Durk

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me when I rebuilt my H's carb. I made an appeal here and someone told me it came from behind the choke lever that the choke rod (the thing you grab when sitting in the driver's seat) attaches to. The ball fits in a hole behind this lever (in the body of the carb) and sits on top of a spring that's probably still there. The spring pushes the ball against the lever to keep the choke in place. There's probably a groove worn where the ball rode and there may even be a detent somewhere designed to keep the choke open when it's not in use.

Thanks Dave, after reading your post i see where the ball goes now. It goes on the outside of the carb, yes the spring is still there, also i see a groove on the lever that the ball rides in. i knew i could find the answer here.

Thanks Durk
