Im beginining to work on an 04. The fellow I got it from said your could not get the starter off withour taking off the belt pulley PTO! Is this true. The serial number is 3665, anyone know what year it is? No information about year on this site, Thanks

Although probably easier,you cna do it with out taking off the belt pulley.Someone on here told me once that if you remove the front bolts for the clutch cover and loosen the back ones as far as possible,you can slip a small pry bar under it and lift it up just enoguh to pull out the starter.I tried and it worked but was still a little bit of a fight to get it out. Ihave also heard that you have to hold it and twist and have your tongue in just the right spot and itll come right out. Imade my life easier,I just took the belt pulley off permanantly.It werent no good no way,leaked too much and the high dollar beaaring in there was shot and couldnt justify spending the money on it.
