Went to another auction today. Went looking for a couple of bale baskets. Came home with another Farmall instead. Great part about it was that my wife was with me and she said I could have it!!!!! I about fell over and bid as fast as I could. Needs a bit a fuel system work but nothing I cant handle. They had 3 656's there but I got this before they got to them. $2500 and the TA even works.
Wife did say ones got to go. So I guess the 300 is the od man out when I get done with it. IN ABOUT 5 YEARS!!!

Kelly, GREAT FIND! What a really good addition to your line up. Double check the tag and see if there is a Delta mark as part of the serial #. If so this tractor had the rearend up date way back when. If not it probably won't ever affect you, for if the rearend was going to give trouble it would have done it long before now. It was in heavy plowing situations when it would give problems. OBTW...Get a line up pic of all the girls, before the 300 goes! you will probably regret it if you don't.
Have fun!, Keep us posted.
Later,
John A.

kelly i had a 460 utillitie gas for a while it was set up for the highway dept. it had at one time 10 foot snow plow cab and one really big wieght up under the rear to compensate for snow plow the guy that had it before me took off the cab and wieght and added pto off his parts 460 he also rebuilt the engine and let me tell you that had some power not sure what was done to the governer but going down the road it would do about 23 mph when you come to a hill brase youself it would open up to about 35 mph i did not have a mechanical tach to check it at the time but it was turning some high rpms he use it on the blower for filling the silo worker well you definatly want to put a strait pipe on it just as big as you can fit threw the hood and tall enough to get fumes over your head then listen to her RoR

You are a fortunate man indeed. Bought a good one today and married a great one a while ago. How much did the baskets go for, sorry you didn't get them. Loren

about $1800 I think. One might have went for $1600. Maybe next year on the baskets.
I have a little work to do on this 460 to get it running good. But thats how it goes from auctions. I always figure in some work. If they didnt need some they wouldnt be there.

Hope you've got stock in Amoco or Mobil. Feeding gasoline into that 6 cylinder motor isn't cheap. Should have held out for a Diesel 460. Use about 1/3 as much fuel.

Diesel would be nice, but gassers are going for about $2000 less in price right now.
Gona be a bit for me to use $2000 in gas. Plus $2000 more = a no buy for me.
Diesels on my agenda, just not right now. Well actually this tractor was not on my agenda right now. But thats how it goes some times.

I think you had a good day. Every farm needs a good 460. Does the wife have any sisters? How did the 656's go? Let the wife bale with the smooth, quiet, vibration-free 460 and she'll let you get a 560 & a 656 & ...

As soon as possible, take her out to a good dinner at the restaurant of her choice and/or buy flowers. Behavior like this should be positively reinforced!! LOL

Tractors Galore; That day you discovered two keeper, the wife and the tractor. You better treat them both special as there seems to be quite a bit of storage area left down on the farm. Don't mess up what appears to be an ideal
farm family situation. Good luck.

She has been runing the 400 with the baler on it. We had been talking about getting the 2nd baler going at the same time and hammering out a field.

Other than that I am not sure and I am not about to mess up a good thing.
I know I would have never got it if she was not there as I know I would have taken one heck of a butt chewing if I did.

Go figure strange things happen every day.

Looks to me like your yard is pretty big, I think you have plenty of room for this one, and at least one more.
