I finally got the diesel 560 running after a complete rebuild and took it down the road and tried the ta,pulled the handle back and the tractor slowed down a little then stopped. I wish I'd known this before I put the engine back in.This is the first time I have driven the tractor since I bought it.

Chris, you might try adjusting the TA. They do get out of adjustment once in a while. Do you have an operator manual? Should show correct adjustment for the engine/TA clutch. Mark

Can you explain to me how adjusting the TA can eliminate his problem? "pulled the handle back and..."

The TA clutch is not holding on the low side. It is possible that the TA clutch needs adjusted to let the TA clutch hold on the low side. The last 3 out of 4 tractors I have purchased owners said the TA was out on low side but TA adjustment took care of the three and the fourth was clear out. The operators manual will tell you the proper way to adjust.

The TA clutch can only slip if the lever is forward. Pulling the lever back disengages the clutch discs (like pushing in the clutch on the regular clutch)and lets the planetary in the TA take over.

Thats a new one on me. If the ta slips in low then the ramp and roller(sprague)clutch is not holding. And they're ain't no fixing that without replacing it. You can adjust the TA release clutch(dry disk),sometime it does'nt release, but if the ta is good and it does'nt release then it is darn near impossible to get in and out of gear. I am not a big fan of the old ta's,come th think of it I don't much care for the hydraulic ones either. Ought to just get a ta eliminator kit.

It's adjusted right. It pulls fine in direct ,but when the ta clutch releases you can feel the roller clutch try to grab a little then it quits moving. Just another setback. It seems like it is always something.
