Can I change propane tank back to a regular gas tank and hook fuel line to present LP carb without changing carb or any of the Ensin system? If not will the M carb. work on LPG intake manifold. Now this M is serial #2241 made in Sept. 1939 which is possibly the oldest M on Propane. It was converted in 1953. Should I put is back to original, or leave it like it is? A big problem for one who likes originality. Thanks for Help and coments. Buck

After market conversion kits that came from IH are part of history too. As long as it's not something that was rigged up (that doesn't seem to be the case) then the tractor and the conversion kit are worth keeping. Just my 2 cents.

I would fix it to be original, so I would take the LP off and put gas back. If it wasn't a '39, I might do otherwise, even though I'm really not fond of LP tractors. We have a '39 M that is close to yours, #2717 (if I remember correctly)
Good luck.

Buck, Farmall didn't build factoy LPs untill the Stage II, Super Ms. The tag on yours probably ends with a X1, which denotes a gas motor. This means that yours is a "Field Conversion" in laymans terms here on the Board.
Now back to your questions, First the LP carb is only good for LP, not gasoline. You will need another tank, carb, the intake will probably work, but if getting the parts anyway go ahead and get another intake too. + fuel lines, and sediment bowl also.
To put back or leave alone. I like LP, Thunder, I love LP. So for me I would leave it as it is, providing it runs good, and there isn't any problems. But that is me! I also think the tank makes the ol girls look tough. Depending on where you live LP can be a novelity, for some folks have never run LP tractors.
Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

First I dont think M came out with LP But I could be wrong. Yes,you can put the regular gas tank back on. You will need to put the M gas carb. back on it, and it will work with the LP manifold. You will not need any of the other LP system.
